Why did some of the women at college say this?

i do an evening hairdressing course.

tonight had dark purple flashes put in my blonde hair.

its turned out really nice and everyone has said so

but when i asked some of the women if they would have that colour or a similar one done all the ones with kids said that they couldnt colour thier hair bright colours because they have kids.

i dont understand why that would effect the colour they dye their hair.

am i missing something since i havent got any kids?

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Personally, there are styles of things I won't wear because I am a mom. I don't need anything revealing walking around with 4 kids. My sis gave me a T-shirt with 'TEASE' written on the front- Yeah I can see me pushing my double stroller with two four-year-olds tagging along and 'TEASE' written across my chest. The same goes for hair. I see such adventurous hair and think young and wild, I may be young but can't afford to be wild. I realize these are stereotypes but that is the world we live in.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

maybe they dont want their kids to want bright colored hair

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Ive absolutely no idea! ive got a four year old, ive got naturally dark brown hair (with a bit of grey!) but ive got red flashes running through it, I have no idea why someone would say that. Wierd!

Maybe they think they are too old??

Depends on the woman, some women age better than others, I can imagine that some women would look bizzarre with different hair, but if you are young/young looking, I cant see that it matters.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Yes, you are missing something. After a certain age, being trendy just isn't cool anymore...it's considered childish. Certain things should not be worn on a grown woman. Funky stripes of hair color are one of those things, as is excessive body glitter, blue nail polish on your hands, and a nose ring. Honestly, I have no kids, so I don't think that is the only issue here. Women usually like to look like women, not girls, so things like this are a fashion don't for anyone over 21.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Maybe because they want to look like stereotypical mothers...which is silly, really

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Maybe its an insult. But don't take it too seriously. I dont understand it either. To me (i imagined it) it doesn't look bad.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

I don't know about the kids thing, but I do know that some people do not like dying their hair unnatural colours

Why did some of the women at college say this?

I can't say for sure, but perhaps they view dying their hair wild colours as an immature thing, and they want to be good role models to their kids.

I for one know that I wouldn't dye my hair a crazy colour because it would just look unprofessional in my work place. Most people associate wild hair colours with teenagers, students, or people with unconventional jobs.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

just an excuse. They are not as adventurous as you. I have had purple, orange and blue in my hair and I have 3 kids. I have not coloured it for a few years now as the maintenance is more than I can handle - time and money. Enjoy your fun hair colour and forget what they mums say.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Maybe its because they feel to have purple strips in there hair makes them look like an imature adult... its ok for u to have that kind of hair style, your young and free of kids... they prob think that they are to old for that....

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Um....well if your a mother it looks kinda weird back when i was in middle school there was a girl named Macy her moms hair was hotpink she was embarresed

Why did some of the women at college say this?

they are telling you that they cant embarass themselves in front of their kids which means they dont admire your hair its just a comment of mocking you

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Maybe they didn't want to frighten their kids, or make them think their kids can do the same thing. As a mother, you set an example for your kids.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Maybe they think their kids pals will laugh at them, after all kids are more honest, are they not???

Why did some of the women at college say this?

because we don't really want oompa loom pa grandparents do we i mean thats just odd.

Shame people don't agree lol,

Why did some of the women at college say this?

I no what you mean i have the underneath of my hair coloured bright pink, everyone always comments on how lovely it looks but when i offer it to my clients they always decline!!! I think its because people worry about what others may say or what other mothers would think as if it makes you irresponsible or an unfit mother for having crazy hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did some of the women at college say this?

They don't want to set a bad example for their kids. This could be moral issue, or an aesthetic one. Personally, I don't think you can improve over nature and think the look you are describing is tacky. That is an aesthetic judgment. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are to conserve it to honor his presence. That is a moral judgment. I don't hold much for religion so I will go with the aesthetic judgment, that is, it is just plain tacky. The mothers you are talking about don't want their kids thinking that they are some sort of "riot girls," or something to that effect. One reason is that this is just a silly and elusive phase and you will be like her before long. Unfortunately, that is the way the cookie crumbles.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Nolan Y....is right

Why did some of the women at college say this?

I think its each to there own. I am in my 50's and have a few pink streaks in my hair, which look really nice. You are your own person and at the end of the day its your life and hair. Does it really matter what other people think if you like it that's what matters. Age concerns is just a flawed perception.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Some women lose their identity after they have kids and feel the need to look 'mumsy'.

I personally don't understand why. I am a parent and am always putting bright colours in my hair.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

maybe they think that since they have kids that its not right to be dying there hair because they have some sort of responsibility as a parent to not go mad!!!!but other than that i don't know sorry?????????

Why did some of the women at college say this?

Some people are jealous.

As a hairdresser myself, I know that you express yourself through your hair. If you want your hair a bright colour then do!

It's good to have a broad idea with hairdressing to avoid sending clients out looking identical.

Why did some of the women at college say this?

i dont understand that either if the colour and style suits the person why not go for it i am 35 and i have a 14yr old but it would not stop me having a colour put on some people worry more what other people think not only their kids and i was a hairdresser
