Trust me I know. When i was a kid I was a tomboy, hair in my face, chubby, nerdy clothes, everyone made fun of me and called me a loser.

Then in junior high i got into goth music, wore black eyeliner, black nailpolish, black hair-- I got good grades but was put in the worst class and was picked on by teachers just for how i looked. Also the kids made fun of me all day. One boy punched me in the stomach.

High School- I said Im tired of people making fun of me, Got a tan, and brought some normal clothes-- People accepted me but still was made fun of for looking Mature"

College- I finally got it right, I thought everyone was going to hate me as usual. By this time i was deep into fashion, trends, looking perfect and pretty, Everyone wanted to be my friend, complimenting my clothes and style. I had to pinch myself to make sure i wasnt dreaming, Me? Popular?

it's called stereotyping. all though not all fit the build most will and therefore they will put you in the appropriate category. Ya, it's not fair but unfortunately this is how most will set their minds.

It's basically human nature. Everyone does it, you do it too. The looks of something have a lot to do whether people like it. A good looking-shirt people like. A good looking painting is one they want to hang up in their house rather than an ugly one. A good-looking person is someone they would rather associate with rather than a bad-looking one.

My dad is like that. Our next door neighbor is a kind girl but she went all goth and my dad doesn't like her anymore. It pisses me off.

We are sexual creatures and unfortunately that is often the driving force for relationships. Dating--It's all (in the first place) about who is hot sexuallly and being hot and attractive gives people thrills(even when they don't know the person they get thrills from)--most popularity is based completely on this--for men and women--and what guy or girl doesn't want an attractive partner on top of that?

On top of that the inner character of most people doesn't impress that much of anyone. Want to know this for sure--go to a church and watch how people act--they will still pick the hottest guys and girls they can to hang with--and ignore the ones with inner character only. No different than bars or clubs, sadly, but I've seen it many times.

Well i think unfortunately , society is very shallow, and accepting of what is different. I understand the pressure and sadness of being picked on constantly wanting to make you conform to society's , pressure based rules on how we must all look, but always keep a little bit of individuality.. It makes you who you are and unique, Society wants us cloned, but God made us different. Don't completely fall to the lure of popularity although it may feel good there is a superficial hypocrisy to it all.. Bottom line , don't loose yourself! Love your self. human nature. in some place its worse, in some places its alright. like, i have a goth look, but i was never put in the worst class for anything, on the contrary i was in all the honors classes, and teachers always took time to talk to me in the hallways. yeah, the preppy kids called me names and said stuff behind my back but i had true friends who didnt give a damn what i looked like, so i dealt with it. so yeah...human nature. ive been places where if you look even the least bit out of the ordinary you get every name under the sun, and get beaten up. but then ive been places where you can show up in all black clothes, with chains, spikes, alll the peircings you could ever fit on your face, ten differant hair colors, and no one would ever look twice. i think the whole world should be like the second place i mentiond. eveyone can dress the way they want and no one gives a damn, as long as you are comfy in your own skin.

no matter what anybody tells you, everybody will judge you on how you look. even i do.

if you come up to a formal party in rags, it's just not "right", nobody is going to take you seriously. sad but true. what i mean by "judging" means that they will think something bad of you, but not necessarily hate your or disrespect you. they will have their own thoughts, but they will still "accept" you in a way.

of course, nobody can care less about how you dress, but still, they have their own opinions, and can judge you all they want in their minds.
