i'm moving a state away and i want to give my best friend from 2nd grade something to remember me by, something she can look at everyday or where every day.

- her: she's a tomboy, not girl in the least bit. likes hockey and books. long brown hair- growing it out for cancer kids. likes the color blue, has a dog, very cool dog :]

- me: kind of a tomboy {growing out of it}, i like basketball, medium brown hair, likes purple, has cats

um i dont know what else to say but i was thinking of getting her a gag gift too. i was going to get her a fuzzy pink tiara.

if you come up with anything at all it'll help.

so far all i know of is best friend rings but all i've seen are best friends forever rings and i don't want one of those.

$10-$15 limit.

Why not go with a traditional gift? Like a picture of the two of you in a picture frame. She should love it now matter what, and she can put it by her bed or on her dresser and remember you. She'll love anything you give her as long as you two are best friends! :)

I have natural dark brown hair (blonde as kid, later it used to get highlighted just with the sun). About 6 months ago I got it highlighted at the salon, they highlights were light blonde and caramel. Looked nice. However, I had a baby, and going back to the salon has been impossible (financially and timewise). About 3 months ago I used a natural light blonde (Preference), and it looked ok. Here's the tragedy: a month ago, I decided to go really ligth and used Les Blondissimes lightest ash blonde. Well, it turned orange. My highlights are almost colorless. I decided to stop messing with it for a while cause it was really getting damaged. Now it is in good shape, but my roots are coming and I look horrible. HELP! Salon is no option. I have no babysitter, and little money. I really feel like a blonde, all my life have been. Don't want to go brown. Any suggestions??

Clairol Natural Instincts in Sahara or Sunflower Blonde .This is semi temporay ,but will blend your hair together and not damage it any further.It should even the color quite a bit.

This last 3 to 4 weeks,probably 4,and you could layer the colors as it is a mild hair color.Probably pick the shade between the two already on your head between the roots and the ends plus the roots.

depends on where you lived, I would suggess you go to a less fancy salon, like Fantastic Sam, or go to some Asian salons. Believe it or not, Asian actually did a pretty dang good job and didn't break your bank.

You could bleach your roots but be advised stay one inch to one and one half inch away from your roots or go to a place such as sally's beauty supply or go to a drug store or a place like walmart and buy a root touch up kit if you have the time. I would use the root touch up kit because bleach can take a while to process. Good luck!

absolutely, whatever you do, do NOT use semi permanent dye, such as clairol natural instincts to lighten your hair. It turned my light brown roots orange, not to mention wrecking my blonde color. DO NOT USE IT!!!

As a kid I rushly wash my hair every other day. For months i have danduff. Anyone know how to get rid of it? And please don't tell me Head and Shoulders cause it doesn;t work for me.

The ONLY thing that works for my husband is the T-gel (the brown stuff. He buys the Walgreen's or store brand. It is much cheaper. He has tried everything and it really works.

Ok 1st off DONT use Head and Shoulders or any other dandruff shampoo! They take all the oils out of your hair that your hair needs. Instead try adding a few drops of Tea Tree oil to your shampoo....not to the bottle but to the amount you put in your hand. Its a natural healer so it helps a lot. Also dont wash your hair everyday, its not good for it. Washing your hair daily will dry it out too much, hense the dandruff. Try going every other day or even 2-3 days without washing it, if it gets greasy try blotting some loose powder on the roots and blending well, sounds weird but it works. Hope this helps!

Are there any parents on here with kids that have ODD? If so, how do you deal with the frustrations? My son is on medication, but it doesnt seem to be working and I don't want him to be turned into a "zombie" with more meds? When he wants to be, he is the sweetest kid.......HELP!!! ODD is "oppositional defiance disorder". Its a diagnosis alot of kids are getting today. I think its very much like ADD. Its probably real, but its overdiagnosed. I don't have a child with it, but I know a couple of families who are saying they have children who do.

Its hard for me to offer you good advice. I just know twenty-thirty years ago that this diagnosis was not given. Instead we called these children "naughty" or "badly behaved".

I'd examine lifestyle and diet issues carefully. Do both parents work? How much one-on-one time is this child getting with you and his father?

Finally, take a look at discipline practices in your home. Are you consistent? Do you set rules and stand by them? What discipline techniques have you used? Do you ground, take away privileges, or spank?

When I was seven if I got out of line, mom pulled down my pants and gave me a spanking with a ruler in my jockey shorts. It was a rough, but effective way to deal with a misbehaving kid. I'm not saying this works for a kid with a real problem, but if you haven't tried it, you might, before medicating him.

"I'm a lucky girl whose dreams came true," she sings. "But underneath it all, I'm just like you."

It's a perfect fantasy concept for a youth sitcom. And executive producers Steven Peterman ("Murphy Brown") and Michael Poryes ("That's So Raven") have modulated "Hannah Montana" to appeal almost shamelessly, but effectively, to young viewers.

Humor is played broadly. Moral lessons are light and obvious. Songs are performed multiple times, to increase their familiarity quotient - and if a soundtrack CD isn't available soon after you read this, then there's no Mickey Mouse at Disneyland.

The most natural and likable character, for parents and other oldsters, is Billy Ray Cyrus, who plays the fictional father to his real-life daughter. (She was cast first, so it wasn't a case of nepotism.) He, too, gets to wear a disguise in Hannah's world, as a long-haired security guard.

I used to go to this school where a lot of people were Vietnamese, but in the whooole school, one girl as Korean.

So the Viet chicks have reeeaaaallllyyyy thin and straight hair, short as hell, really tan, skin and not as smart as this Korean girl.

The Korean girl was the smartest kid in class, had thick hair, was tall, and had a great body.

And the Vietnamese girls felt superior to this other girl just because of their hair, so I was thinking, who would you rather be? a Korean girl or a Viet one? I mean guys can answer too.

In the north west area I've gone to the Wild Hair, and still go to Roni Josef (and no, I didn't spell that wrong). I like them both. However, I think its more important that you find a stylist that you like. Just start asking your friends who they would recommend, or if you see a hairstyle you want, ask the woman where she gets her hair done. Who wouldn't like to hear "I love that hairstyle, can you tell me who gave it to you?"

So I have this friend. She lies to everybody, including me, all of the time.

Like, there was this one time that she claimed that JoJo was her aunt.

She also tried to convince me that she was blonde as a little kid, naturally. Although, her natural hair color is black.

It's starting to really bother me, and know I'm unsure of when she's lying or telling the truth.

I've dealt with many people like this throughout school and everywhere else. It's good that you recognize her outlandish lies. She's a "pathological liar" it means they can't stop and often have trouble remembering or distinguishing between whats real in their life and what they make up. Just ignore her lies, and try to have fun if you want to stay friends with someone like that. Or if you really want to have some fun, start making up your own lies to make hers look silly. Tell her about your weekend trip to the moon with michael jackson or something equally disturbing/retarded. Either way, have fun with it!

This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks. What happens when you predict snow but don't get any! We had a female news anchor that, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked: "So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?" Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard! Now, didn't that feel good?

oh i got one too! its a true story that happened just yesterday in gym class.

I am in gr 9, at my PE class in the gym. We played floor hockey often, and the coach had brought 2 rubber balls to use. My daughter is 9, in the 3rd grade and has had problems with behavior since she was about 3. She definitely has anger issues and insecurities. She has been to counselors and therapist and to no avail it seems she always end up at it again, teasing and bullying other kids. She has been teased herself about her hair (curly) and her weight (she is a bit overweight). We give her constant positive reinforcement at home and tell her how smart and beautiful she is. She isnt happy with herself and I don't know what else I can do to be supportive with her to make her happy with herself and like herself. We just finished up an 8 week class of kidshape, a program for kids and parents that teaches healthy alternatives and new excercises for kids and parents and teaches self esteem tactics. I think she benefitted from it. Today I received a call from her teacher that she is up to her same old tricks of teasing and bullying. I think this all stems from insecurities. What do I do now?

I appreciate your efforts to find the root cause of the behavior, and try to correct it there. You clearly are covering all your bases and really trying to make a difference.

However, bad behavior is bad behavior, and cannot be allowed just because you know the reason she's doing it. I think you're going to have to do some tough-love, and punish the bad behavior as it occurs. As you said, she's intelligent, and seems to be perfectly capable of understanding how wrong it is.

My daughter had behavioral problems for years. I did what you are doing just constantly going to therapy with her. She is now 17 and about to graduate high school and is going to college in the fall. She is doing so much better, although there are still some rough moments, but for the most part does just fine.

its in any psychology book you pick up. its negative reimbursement. when she does something bad treat it negatively. the same when she does something good. im no psychologist but when children act out like that there are usually other things going on in their lives. talk to her. find out what it is that causes your daughter to act the way she does.

it could be that her parents are divorced, or she doesnt get enough attention, children are not usually hard to figure out the source of problems

I pray I never get this phone call. We do what we can as parents, and even with the best of intentions, things just don't seem to work out as we planned.

It looks like you have tried almost everything. But I don't see where she's been punished for what she is doing. I am a avid believer in positive reinforcement, but that doesn't work without a negative.

We have recently implemented the point system in my house. My children are allowed 10 points a day, and need all 10 points to ride their bikes (their favorite activity, right now). 8 to keep their tv on, 6 for computer time, 4 for outside time and so on.

Name calling, talking back, general meanness, fighting, all cost them two points. Having to repeatedly ask them to do things (pick up their toys, shoes, clothes, etc) cost them a point for every extra time I'm forced to ask.

They are able to earn points back during the day. If I see them being helpful with each other, doing chores that weren't asked of them, using their manners as they were taught, etc, they get one point back.

Since they are only allowed 10 points a day, any points they have over that, at bedtime, we bank. Once they both get 25 extra points they get to choose one fun thing to do as a family. (Chuck E Cheese, feeding the ducks, going to the zoo/amusement park, etc)

It is working really REALLY well in my house. We are teaching them that when they do really great things, they get really great things. When they do really bad things, bad things happen.

Don't resort to hitting her... It won't work. She will just end up scared of you and resenting you. It could totally ruin your relationship forever!

Maybe you need some proffesional help. Im not saying she has some sort of problem! But a couseller could help her work through her problams and could explain to you maybe why she is.
